Whatever your standard we can guarantee there will be others there of a similar standard and you will not feel out of place. We hope this year to attract some members we have not seen before and we look forward to seeing you there.

New Old Theocsbrians
2010 Dinner
Once again the Old Theocsbrian's Society Dinner was held at the Gupshill Manor where seventy three members enjoyed an excellent meal served very professionally by the staff.

President John Brown welcomed the Town Mayor, Geoff Pope, and presented him with a cheque for £100 to add to his charity.

Once again Ivan Cottrell was on hand to provide the musical accompaniment to the School Hymn to open proceedings.

The President's speech was followed by an entertaining response from one of his classmates whilst at school, Peter Tarling.

The formal proceedings were concluded with the handing over of the chain of office to the new President, Alan Purkiss.

Unfortunately our Secretary, Steve Yeates, who does tremendous work for the Society all year long and especially whilst organising the dinner, was unable to be present due to work commitments. Norman Hunt gallantly took over Steve's role at the dinner to ensure the evening went smoothly

Altogether a very successful occasion and one enjoyed by all.
Donations
The Charitable donations for 2010 were:

£100 to the Town Mayor's Charity

£100 to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

£100 to the Tewkesbury Museum

£500 to the Tewkesbury Hospital Day Centre
Other News
The meaningful survival of the Old Theocsbrians Society is dependent on two things, the time given, free, by the committee and the generosity of the members of the Society when they pay subscriptions and/or make donations, which are used to gift local charities and organisations. At a recent committee meeting these matters were discussed and it was decided, unanimously by all present, that a mention should be made in this newsletter about those discussions.

If any member wishes, or knows of any “Old Boy” that might wish to serve on the committee of the Society (especially in the position of President), then please let any committee member know of this so that the appropriate arrangements can be made.

Secondly, those members that are unable to attend this year's dinner, or any dinner in the future, should still send in a subscription to maintain their membership of the Society.

The Committee, on behalf of the Society, would like to thank all those members who regularly send their annual subscriptions, even if they are unable to make it to the dinner in that year.

Just a reminder that this years AGM will take place at the Gupshill Manor before the dinner starting at 6.15pm, all OldTheocsbrians welcome.

The Dinner is at 7:30 pm.

Norman Hunt

Committee Member
